Magnesium

Surprisingly, there are foods to improve your hearing. Just as with your eyes and the rest of your body certain foods can boost your hearing and ability to endure loud noises.

As a musician, I try to take care of my hearing and my diet is a large part of this. I am not a health freak or anything I do not think but I just try to eat a balanced diet and stay away from the obvious things like fried foods and such although I do eat fast foods from time to time like most people do. I have done a lot of research online on this topic and have found that Magnesium is very important. After eating magnesium rich foods I can tell you it really is beneficial. I can immediately notice a difference in my hearing. It is quite incredible to say the least!

First off, magnesium allows you to hear better! Magnesium is an important mineral that your body needs and it not only improves your hearing but helps your entire body. It also helps with anxiety. I am not sure exactly how, but as far as your hearing goes it is one of the elements that your ears depend on to function well. An example... one day I decided to eat pretty healthy for breakfast I ate a bowl of cereal (not sure which brand but it had oats, nuts, and some fiber) - just stay away from the kids cereals!. For lunch I ate stir fried veggies with olive oil (potatoes, broccoli, onions, and some spinach) - very tasty!! Anyhow, about 20 mins later I noticed how well I could hear! The car blinker sounded loud and crisp it sounded good if you can believe that! Tick, tick tick.

Instead of taking out all of the things in your diet that you enjoy like sodas, coffee, salt, etc.. add these others into it! You can still enjoy the bad but add some good to balance it out. It really works. Also in a way by adding more good elements in your diet you naturally remove some of the unhealthy ones since you can not eat everything times two.. well you could but its harder and more expensive!

Magnesium Rich Foods For Your Ears (hearing)

Okay, so here are some foods rich in magnesium that I eat that have worked for me and I enjoy.

Dark Green Veggies and Fruits - such as broccoli, spinach, and avocado to name a few.

Beans - eat a bean burrito or combination plate with a side of beans from a Mexican restaurant or canned beans. Re fried beans are good since they have fat in them which allow your body to absorb the magnesium.

Potatoes - I love potatoes and they do well for my hearing. They contain a decent amount of magnesium. They are a good solution to adding magnesium to your diet since they are cheap and cook fast. You cook them in the microwave, on a pan, or in the oven. Tip: eat with the skin on as the skin contains much of the magnesium. Please wash well.

Tofu - Tofu is one of my favorite foods. It is not only healthy but really tasty. When in a rush I like to cut some up and pan fry with olive oil. You can also batter with flower and egg and eat with soy sauce! Tofu is also a good option since it is very affordable. You can buy a pack for under $2.

Whole Grain Cereals - but make sure to check the back of the box for the nutritional facts magnesium is usually at the top of the list since it is one of the more important ones?

Nuts - people say nuts are good like peanuts and almonds but I rarely eat these unless they are in my cereal. Let me know if they work for you please.

Olive Oil - use olive oil instead of butter or margarine when cooking. It tastes better and healthy! It helps to remove cholesterol from your arteries as well which helps your hearing!

*note: some people take magnesium supplements but these are not as good as eating foods rich in magnesium! I have tried and will also write another hub on this topic later. They can be beneficial but please do not rely on them solely for your magnesium and vitamins.

**note: if you eat mostly greens for your magnesium, you will need to eat some fats with it such as a dressing or other food in order for your body to absorb it.

Please, check for reputable sources when looking at how much magnesium (or any other mineral) is found in that specific food.

In olive oil, for example, there is no magnesium.

And you would have to eat a pretty big amount of potatoes to get as much magnesium that is found in a package of spinach...

And anyway, I would like to see a research that shows that magnesium helps hearing... otherwise, I don't believe you.
